Our Story

The Task Force

We are a network-driven and oriented organization.

We continuously try to bring together a team of teams to support our founders.

We are a Task Force.

Leadership & Core Team

Brandon Shelton

Managing Partner

We see an opportunity in driven Veteran leaders. By properly supporting and connecting these individuals, we believe they will reach their performance goals, execute in their marketplaces and achieve their Missions faster than their peers.”

Brandon Shelton is a strategy leader, a problem solver and a relationship builder. He led the grassroots effort that became TFX Capital, a driven network of experts and advisors that evaluate talent and develop entrepreneurs and businesses.

Brandon developed his financial, strategic and operational skills through various experiences in high intensity and change environments from the military after 9/11 to Wall Street in 2008. Using military principles, Brandon helped client teams grow while a partner at a boutique strategy consulting firm with his largest client hiring him to drive growth, expansion and technology changes at a multi-billion dollar company in North America. He also is a Board Director at NAVSO, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of veterans and military families and a Board Director at StreetShares Foundation, America’s small business funding community.

Kevin Eckert

From the moment I learned about what TFX was building, I knew I wanted to be part of it. As a veteran working in the investment world, the TFX mission deeply resonated with me.”

Kevin Eckert joined the TFX team in February 2018 with over 20 years of experience in finance, strategy, operations and investments. A military veteran and start-up advisor, Kevin initially got involved in TFX as an investor in Fund I and has supported TFX with deal sourcing and execution as well as assistance at major conferences since the firm launched in 2016.

Prior to joining TFX, Kevin spent over a decade as a Managing Director for Stephens Capital Partners LLC and Stephens Inc. where he was involved in transactions ranging from early stage opportunities to leveraged buyouts. He began his career as a member of General Electric's Corporate Audit staff, working across a variety of GE's global businesses to execute financial audits, lead operational reviews, and drive strategic corporate initiatives. After Audit Staff, Kevin joined GE Capital as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt, leading and mentoring numerous operational improvement projects as well as co-founding a new insurance business. Following his time with GE, Kevin founded a management consulting company that advised companies and government agencies in the defense sector.

Kevin earned a B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago and a M.B.A. from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. After college, he served as a field artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps. Kevin currently sits on the Board of Directors of Veterans Bridge Home, a non-profit that connects transitioning military and veteran families to community-based resources, and is on the Steering Committee for the Charlotte Chapter of Veterans on Wall Street.

Abbey Johnson

Director of Operations

We have a daily opportunity to create meaningful connections amongst founders, investors, industry leaders, and supporters. This collective and trusted community unites time and time again to amplify the impact we are able to have on companies in our portfolio.”

Abbey joined TFX in February 2018 after spending several years in San Francisco recruiting senior talent for early stage technology startups. Prior to recruitment and as a military spouse, Abbey spent time in a variety of industries and functional roles including marketing, project management, and sales.

Upon moving to Charlotte, Abbey was immediately drawn to TFX’s mission and leadership; she initially became involved with the firm in late 2017, assisting with what is now the firm’s largest annual event.
